The Low German Stage Flensburg ( Low German Nedderdütsche Bühn ) is a theater in Flensburg .

history

The roots of Low German stage Flensburg go to the year 1622 back in the first time in Flensburg by students of the old school Platt Deutsches Theater was presented.

The performances such as peasant games and local antics have been documented since 1828; The first stage association was founded in 1886 with the Victoria Theater Club . In 1920 the Flensburger Speeldeel was founded, which quickly transformed from a loose playgroup to a homogeneous ensemble . In 1926 the Speeldeel was renamed the Low German Stage Flensburg .

In the course of a reorganization of the theaters in Schleswig-Holstein in 1974, the Low German Stage became an independent theater company of the city of Flensburg and was henceforth called "Low German Stage of the City of Flensburg". In the first season there were 78 performances and over 24,000 visitors were counted.

In January 1982 the studio of the Low German stage was opened, a theater room with 99 seats as the "small house" of the stage, with direct contact with the audience and the best opportunities for chamber play, reading, cabaret and experimental theater, all still in Low German.

In 1995 there was a major change when the Low German Stage was released from the city's custody due to urban austerity. The association "Niederdeutsche Bühne Flensburg eV" took over the sponsorship with a reduced grant, but the tradition was preserved and the theater was preserved.

The theater now employs a full-time stage manager and four technical and artistic staff. The ensemble itself consists of around 60 honorary members. With an average of seven premieres per season, mainly rehearsed by professional directors, the stage still reaches around 24,000 spectators with around 1,500 subscribers .

The stage is also supported by a sponsoring association founded in 1979 with 120 members.
