Alix of Thouars
Alix von Thouars (* 1200 ; † November 21, 1221 ) was Duchess of Brittany and Vice Countess of Thouars in her own right from 1213 to 1221.
She was the older daughter of the ruling Duke ( duc baillistre ) Guido von Thouars († 1213) and the Duchess Konstanze of Brittany (also a duchess in her own right), the daughter of Duke Conan IV.
It was with Henri d' Avaugour engaged, but in 1213 it was by a decision of the French king Philip II. With Peter Mauclerc from home France-Dreux married.
Alix and Peter had three children:
- John I the Red (* 1217; † 1286), 1237 Duke of Brittany , 1272 Count of Penthièvre ; ⚭ Blanche of Champagne († 1263), daughter of Theobald I , King of Navarre
- Yolande (* 1218; † 1272), 1235 Countess of Penthièvre, 1250–1266 regent of La Marche ; ⚭ 1235 Hugo XI. of Lusignan (1221–1250), Count of La Marche and Angoulême
- Arthur (* 1220; † 1224)
Alix was buried next to her mother on November 24, 1221 in the Abbey of Notre-Dame-de-Villeneuve near Nantes .
