Alkimos (son of Hippocoon)
Alkimos ( ancient Greek Ἄλκιμος ) is a person from Greek mythology .
He is the son of the hippocoon from Amyklai . Pausanias reports about Heroa of the sons of the Hippocoon who were in Sparta behind a portico next to a group of plane trees. In the group of plane trees was a heroon of the Olympian Kyniska , who was venerated there as a cultural hero of horse breeding. In addition to Alkimos, the hippocoon sons Enaraiphoros , Dorkeus and Sebros were venerated.
A myth about the sons of Hippocon is depicted in the library of Apollodorus , but there are more than four of them and they have different names. Together with his sons Dorykleus , Skaios , Enarophoros , Bukolos , Euteiches , Lykaithos , Tebros , Hippothoos , Eurytos , Hippokorystes , Alkinos and Alkon, Hippokoon drives the rulers of Sparta , Ikarios and Tyndareos out of the city. Hippocoon and all his sons are killed by Heracles , whereupon Tyndareus takes control again.
Alkimos can probably be identified with the Alkinos from the library .
