The Alkuser See is a mountain lake ( 2432 m above sea level ) in the Schober group in the east of East Tyrol (municipality of Ainet ).
The Alkuser See is located at the end of the Daberbach valley between Alkuser Rotspitze , Kleine Rotspitze , Trelebitschkopf and its connecting ridge to Schleinitz . It was first recorded in 1718 as Aglaser See in a map series. With this and similar old name variants, however, name researchers suspect prescriptions in map works. The origin of the name of Alkus is not clearly proven , analogous to the place name of the Alkus faction . Due to the older spelling of “old Gose” or “old gases”, some name researchers interpret “alkus” as old gases , which in turn would derive from the Latin casa .
