climate

Climate diagram of the neighboring district capital Lienz

As there is no measuring station in Ainet, exact records of the community's climate are missing. However, due to the proximity of the settlements to the weather station in the district capital Lienz, it is comparable with the climatic data measured there. The coldest month of the year in the Lienz basin is January, the highest temperatures are measured in the summer months of July and August. The highest rainfall also falls in the summer months, with the month of October being almost as rainy. Another 19% had found a job in the rest of the district, another 8 or 10% commuted to North Tyrol or another federal state, and 14 people went abroad.

tourism

Today tourism in Ainet is of little economic importance compared to the Lienz district. The municipality was only able to count around 6,000 overnight stays in the 2011/12 tourist year, while Kals am Großglockner , which is about the same size in terms of inhabitants, achieved more than 22 times as many overnight stays. In the summer this meant the fourth lowest number of overnight stays in the district, in winter Ainet achieved the eighth lowest number of overnight stays in the municipalities in the Lienz district. While the number of overnight stays in winter has more than doubled since the turn of the millennium, the number of overnight stays fell by around 14% in summer. Of the 3,457 overnight stays in summer 2012, 33% were Austrian, 36% German, 10% Dutch and 7% Belgians.

Today, like all other East Tyrolean municipalities, the municipality belongs to the East Tyrol Tourist Association, with Ainet being organized in the "Lienz Dolomites Holiday Region". In the municipality there is no hotel apart from a number of private room rental companies, inns, holiday apartments and a campsite.

Transport and infrastructure

Ainet is crossed by the Felbertauern Straße B 108, which runs through the municipality to the left of the Isel. Starting from the Aineter industrial area, the Gwabl and Alkus fractions are accessed via Gwablstrasse L 322, which begins at Felbertauernstrasse. The Schlaitener Straße L 289 also starts from the industrial area and leads via Plone and Schlaiten to Gantschach. Ainet is connected to the public transport network by buses operated by ÖBB-Postbus GmbH . Lines 4410 and 4412 connect the community of Ainet along Felbertauern Straße through three stations to the bus network in the direction of Huben , with a journey time of around ten minutes.

Ainet has merged with the neighboring municipalities of the Lienz basin to form the "Lienzer Talboden waste water association", with Ainet joining the waste water association in 1999. The municipal wastewater is treated in the Dölsach sewage treatment plant , with the Drau serving as a receiving water . The first construction phase, which disposed of the objects between Taberbach and Badl and the objects in the Plone district, was completed in spring 2002. The second construction phase with the connection of the Ainet-Dorf area was then started. In 2012, the fourth construction phase was the last to tender for the wastewater development of the Gwabl district, followed by the Alkus sewer construction phase in the fifth and final phase. The waste that arises in the community is disposed of by the Waste Management Association of East Tyrol (AWVO).

education

With the establishment of the curate in 1771, the operation of a school in Ainet is documented for the first time. Initially, the “Old School House” was on the eastern edge of the village, after the great fire in 1903, the burned down house on what was then the largest farm “Moar” was converted into a school. The children of the community were taught there in two classes until 1962, after which the new four-class elementary school Ainet was moved in 1963. The Gwabl-Alkus elementary school was also founded in 1771. After the then independent municipality of Alkus had built a school in 1817, the school, which was soon too small, was moved to a new school in 1825. In 1911 a new school building was built due to its central location in Gwabl. Alkus and Gwabl's primary school students were taught there until 1985. In the 2012/13 school year there were two classes in Ainet, with ten children starting school in this school year. Ainet has a kindergarten to look after younger children. In order to attend a secondary school or a grammar school, however, the children have to commute to the district capital Lienz.

Security and Healthcare

With regard to health care, Ainet is organized together with the communities of Amlach , Leisach , Tristach , Oberlienz , Gaimberg , Schlaiten and St. Johann im Walde in the social district of Lienz Land. In the health district, for example, health services such as elderly and care assistance, home and household help and meals on wheels are organized.
