List of natural monuments in the Lienz district
The list of natural monuments in the Lienz district lists all objects designated as natural monuments in the Lienz district (East Tyrol) in the state of Tyrol . The 44 natural monuments include a large number of summer and winter linden trees as well as numerous larches and maples . There are also groups of trees, a park, stretches of water, ponds and a high moor among the natural monuments. The first protection took place in 1931, the last in 2014.

It is a Zwiesel with two equal stems with recognizable lightning damage to the trunk and an additional, overgrown trunk tear. The group of trees is located in an underground rock cellar at the foot of the Isel valley under a large rock fall on the northern edge of the village. The group of trees consists of several sycamore trees, spruces, and summer and winter linden trees. The group of trees originally consisted of more trees than today, but several trees had to be felled after a rock fall in 1966. The Alte See is located west of the Tristacher See at 830 m above sea level. A. and is around 140 m long and 50 m wide. Sedge pads form several small islands. On the west side is an extensive silting moor with swinging lawn . On the bank areas there is rich vegetation with more than 70 types of flowering plants and two rare horsetail species , the adjacent forest is home to a diverse woody flora, which is due to the different rocks in the subsoil. | 1977 | ||

The beautifully grown winter linden tree , over 25 m high, dominates the village square of Amlach. Due to cutting measures, the crown has lost some of its original expansion. The tree is rich in mistletoe . The linden tree is a symbol of Amlach and can be found in stylized form in the municipal coat of arms. | 1964 | ||

The natural monument is located in the nature reserve Kerschbaumeralmtal and Galitzenbachgraben and comprises an 80 m long and 33 m deep gorge stretch of the Galitzenbach below and above the Klammbrücke. The Sinkersee is a spring lake only a few square meters in size and fed by hillside springs. It is surrounded by a damp bog forest in which various mosses ( peat moss , star moss ), blackberries , cranberries and prickly juniper grow. To protect against grazing cattle, the natural monument was enclosed with traditional wooden fences. | 2004 | ||

The protected stone pine is the last of originally five that stood in limestone around the widum of the Maria Schnee pilgrimage church. The tree has a very large height of around 25 m for its species and a trunk circumference of over 3 m. The silting bog is 1470 m above sea level. A. northeast of the Zwischenberger saddle near the border with Carinthia and includes the shallow ditch that descends from the top of the pass through a hollow to the east. The moor consists of a silted-up lake surrounded by gray alder and spruce trees . The remaining open water area of around 600 m² is almost completely overgrown with the pond horsetail . The moor offers a habitat for various amphibians, such as the mountain newt or the common frog . | 1992 | ||

The Schleier waterfall is formed by the Staniskabach and is located on the left side of the Kalsertal valley south of the hamlet Haslach on Kalser Straße . The steep drop of the Staniskabach is surrounded by dense forest, whereby the name of the Schleier waterfall comes from the atomizing water masses that flow from the Schobergruppe over the Staniskabach, especially in spring. | 1967 | ||

The red pine on the southern bank of the Drau just before the confluence of the Isel is more than 20 m high and has a trunk almost 1 m thick. This is slightly sloping and only has branches in the upper half, some of which are several decimetres in diameter and form the umbrella-shaped crown typical of old pines. The three larches are located on the north side of the mountain on which Weißenstein Castle is located. In a mixed forest of spruce, beech, maple and larch, the three larches on the northern steep slope of the Schlossberg were designated as a natural monument. The trees are each between 30 and 40 meters high, the lowest larch has a short, several meters thick main trunk that branches into three other high trunks. | 1986 | ||

The larch on the so-called Bergerweg is around 1350 meters above sea level on the way from Berg to the Raneburger Alm. The tree has a trunk circumference of almost 9 meters and a height of almost 40 meters, and is estimated to be 400 years old. At a height of around 10 meters, the larch branches out to form a twister and a mighty strong branch that grows away from the trunk in the shape of a saber. | 2001 | ||

The Zedlacher Paradies is located above the village of Zedlach . The Zedlacher Forest extends at an altitude between 1300 and 1700 meters and was created as a larch willow. This only larch pasture in East Tyrol owes its existence to the fact that the Zedlacher Alm could only be digged late in the year due to its altitude and the cattle had been grazing in the larch forest until then. This resulted in single larches or in small groups, while the rest of the pastureland was kept free from vegetation. The larches in Zedlacher Paradies have a circumference of up to four meters and a special lichen flora. | 1973 | ||

The winter lime tree is located on a knoll above Oberlienz at 1279 m above sea level on a square in front of the Helenenkirche. While the main trunk of the linden tree is completely hollow, the tree has two stems from a height of around five meters. It is believed that the hollow trunk was caused by the breaking out of a stem, which is why the crown is one-sided. | 1933 | ||

The linden tree was planted in 1912 on the occasion of the opening of the old schoolhouse. Today it is located next to the newly built community center of Oberlienz and was included in the design of a green area. The Umbal Falls were created by the Isel in the Umbal Valley and plunge into the valley in several steps from a height of around 1700 meters. The upper Isel cataracts are located above a bridge over the Isel, with a water viewing path leading up to this point, which was built in 1976 and recreated in 1985 after the floods. A mountain ravine forest has developed along the Umbal Falls, which includes spruce and larch as well as moisture-loving deciduous trees such as willows, mountain ash and bird cherry. Native are here dipper and gray wagtail . Due to its properties as a glacier stream, the water level of the Isel fluctuates greatly, which is why the highest water level in summer is reached in the late afternoons. | 1991 | ||

The protected sycamore tree (Acer pseudoplatanus) is located below the Virger Widum in a parking lot near a wayside shrine for the saints Vigil, Florian and Notburga at around 1180 m above sea level. The tree has a short, relatively thick trunk and a closed crown. The limited vitality of the tree is probably due to the later sealing and compaction of the soil (parking lot). | 2006 | ||

The lowest branches were cut off around 1955 to secure the road and the base of the trunk was reinforced. In 2012 the protection was revoked.
