Mountain is often also counted as pits.

history

In 1869, 86 people lived in 61 houses in pits, and at that time Berg was probably counted as a mine. In 1951 there were 7 houses with 29 inhabitants on Berg, while Gruben had 10 houses with 45 people. In addition, 28 alpine huts were counted among pits and mountains.

Bergerkirchle

Entrance front of the Bergerkirchles

Between the houses of the hamlet of Berg is the Bergerkirchle from the 18th century, consecrated to St. Sebastian. The two-bay chapel building with a shingle-roofed gable roof was renovated in 1975. On the entrance side, the chapel has a rectangular portal, a viewing window and a light hatch in the gable field. In addition, there are two rectangular windows on each of the long walls, which are barred with wrought iron. A massive roof turret rises above the shingled gable roof, which is crowned by a ball and cross on the choir side. This is also clapboard and is crowned by a ball and cross as well as a weathercock. The roof turret also has sound openings for the bell. Originally there were two bells in the roof turret, but they were removed during the First World War. Of the steel bells manufactured by the Böhler & CO AG company in Vienna in 1921, only one bell remained in the chapel during the Second World War.

The interior of the ceiling of the chapel was designed as a barrel vault with belts over flat pilasters and provided with simple capitals. The entrance is closed with a wrought iron grille, the floor is made of natural stone. The interior is dominated by a baroque altar, which was created around 1800. The altar has a rustic painted antependium , the altarpiece shows St. Sebastian, St. New Year and a religious saint as intercessor before Mary. In addition, there is a Maria-hilf depiction with a banner in the extract. The inside of the altarpiece is flanked by figures of St. Chrysanth (left) and St. Sylvester (right). In addition, some gilded figures of St. George (left) and St. Emerentiana (right) can be found further outside . In the chapel there is also a figure of Mary with a child and a halo from around 1520 and a sculptural group of guardian angels from the second half of the 18th century on the right-hand arched pillar.
