Strumerhof

Hinteregg is a fraction of the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol . The village lies above the Matrei basin and was inhabited by 11 people in 2011. At that time the place was the second smallest fraction of Matrei in East Tyrol in terms of population.

geography

Hinteregg is located on the western slope of the Hintereggkogel northeast of the center of the Matrei market in East Tyrol . The fraction is part of the cadastral community of Matrei in Osttirol Land and consists of a few houses, with the closely spaced farms Kaisen and Stöffler with the chapel at 1,430 meters forming a kind of center. To the north of the two courtyards is another residential building, to the south is the Strumer farm with the Strumerhof inn of the same name (1,445 meters). Hinteregg can only be reached via a road from Zedlach ; there is no road connection to Prossegg , which is located below Hinteregg .

history

Hinteregg was always one of the smallest fractions in Matrei in East Tyrol and in 1869 consisted of seven houses in which 19 people lived. By the 1890 census, they had fallen sharply, with only 9 people in six houses.

Buildings

The village of Hinteregg has a chapel, which is located at the Stöffler farm (also known as the Steffa or bladder farm). It was built in 1970 and donated by the Niederegger-Steiner families. The building goes back to a previous chapel, which was built on this site in 1863 and destroyed by an avalanche. The plans for the newly built chapel come from Roman Huter, the consecration took place on October 6, 1973. The chapel itself is a rectangular building with a polygonal end. The pent roof was covered with shingles and is surmounted by a slightly protruding roof turret. The roof turret has rectangular sound openings protected by blinds and a curved tent roof crowned by a sphere and cross. Inside, the chapel has a stained wooden ceiling and natural stone floor panels, the altar shows a baroque painting depicting Mariahilf . The chapel was also equipped with two winged putti from the original chapel (second half of the 19th century) and two console figures of St. Peter and St. Paul . The bell of the chapel dates from the time after the First World War and was moved from the destroyed chapel to the current building.
