The Neue Prager Hütte is, next to the DAV House Obertauern and the Klostertaler Umwelthütte, the third own Alpine Club hut of the German Alpine Club (not belonging to any section ). It is a managed hut of category 1 and is located at 2796 m above sea level. A. southeast of Großvenediger in East Tyrol in Austria .

history

The New Prague Smelter was built in 1901/03 with significant participation by Johann Stüdl from Prague and was inaugurated on August 9, 1904. Elise Mühlburger ran the hut from 1908 to 1945.

In 2004 the hut celebrated its centenary. The hut was owned by the Oberland section for a long time , but has been handed over to the federal association in recent years.

The hut has been a listed building since 2014 .

getting there

Arrival by car: chargeable parking lot at the Matreier Tauernhaus
Arrival by bus: Matrei in East Tyrol stop , Tauernhaus junction on the Kitzbühel – Lienz bus line in East Tyrol. Travel time from the terminal stops approx. One hour, there and in Mittersill you can change to the ÖBB

From the Matreier Tauernhaus a taxi, a horse-drawn carriage and a tractor-operated slow train drive to Innergschlöß .

Ascent

From the Matreier Tauernhaus ( 1512 m ) via the Innergschlöß ( Venedigerhaus , 1725 m ), past the Old Prager Hut in approx. 4½ to 5 hours.
