The Klostertaler Umwelthütte (also Klostertaler Hütte ) is, next to the DAV House Obertauern and the New Prager Hütte, the third own Alpine Club hut of the German Alpine Club (does not belong to any section ). The hut is a category 1 self-catering hut and is located at 2366 m above sea level. A. in Klostertal / Silvretta in the municipality of Gaschurn in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg .
history
The shell construction begun in the 1970s by the Wiesbaden section of the German Alpine Club was taken over by the Stuttgart section in 1980 and initially provided for the construction of a managed shelter . Since the Silvretta was already considered sufficiently developed, the construction of another hut was controversial. The continued construction was successfully fought by environmentalists, so that the general meeting of the DAV in 1983 decided to tear it down. The valley community of Gaschurn appealed against this, so that the house remained in ruins for years and, as a compromise, was completed and opened in 1993 as a self-catering hut and base for mountain rescue. The administration is carried out today by the umbrella organization of the German Alpine Club in Munich. It can be accessed with the Alpine Club key. An emergency room is always open.
Heat collectors have been installed on the house as an experiment. The large one on the south gable supports the heating of the house, a smaller one supplies heat to accelerate the rotting of the faeces, which is very slow due to the low average temperatures.
