The Saarbrücker hut (also occasionally Saar Brückner Cabin ) is a mountain hut of the German Alpine Club ( section Alpine Club and Ski Club Saarbrücken ) in the Silvretta . It belongs to hut category I, which means that according to the DAV guidelines "it has retained its original character as a base for mountaineers and mountain hikers" and "is located in an area that is important for mountaineering". In addition, it is classified by the DAV as "particularly suitable for families".
Location and description
The hut is located at 2538 m on a spur in the east ridge of the Kleinlitzner ( 2783 m ) in the municipality of Gaschurn in the state of Vorarlberg in Austria . It is the highest mountain hut in the Silvretta.
The hut has 88 beds and is open over Easter and from the end of June to the end of September. When the hut is closed, a winter room is always open . However, this is only equipped with a liquid gas cooker, but not with an oven.
history
The hut was built in 1911 by the Saarbrücken section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club . The first hut burned down in December 1931. In the following year, the section began building a new hut, which has been expanded several times to this day.
