The Tübinger Hütte is an alpine club hut in the Silvretta mountain group in Austria . The alpine refuge of the 1st category is located at 2191  m in the rear Garneratal and belongs to the Tübingen section of the German Alpine Club .

history

Fifteen years after the Tübingen Section was founded on March 4, 1891, a working committee for hut construction was formed in 1906 under the direction of Bohnenberger, and it was decided at the end of the year. With the choice of the location in the rear Garneratal near Gaschurn im Montafon , a connection between the Silvretta and the Rätikon should be made possible and the transition easier. The hut, built for 19,000 crowns, was inaugurated on August 19, 1908 and offered accommodation for 50 people.

In the years 1910 and 1928 the hut was badly damaged by avalanches of dust ; in the two world wars it was closed to hikers and mountaineers and served as a base for military border guards and customs authorities.

When it reopened, the Tübinger Hütte was looked after by the Austrian Alpine Association until 1954. Through the so-called "existing hut contract" with Austria, the hut came back to the Tübingen Section as unrestricted property in 1956. Since then it has been considered "a piece of the Neckar-Alb in the Montafon".

Extensive renovation work was carried out for the 50th anniversary of the hut. This was followed by the construction of a new turbine water collection system, the renewal of the material ropeway and the complete renewal of the power supply.

In 1978 the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the extension of the hut that had been planned since the mid-1960s. After completion in 1979, this new part was inaugurated in 1981: The number of accommodations was doubled, the guest room was enlarged, a new kitchen and various ancillary rooms (drying, self-catering and winter rooms, laundry and staff accommodation) were set up. A comprehensive renovation of the hut began in 2017 and was completed a year later. Among other things, a new heating system was installed, the fire protection was renewed, the sanitary facilities were renovated and the kitchen was modernized. This work was completed a year later.

In 2019, around 2700 overnight stays were counted at the hut.

Approach

The normal approach from Gaschurn leads through the Garneratal, at the end of which the Tübinger Hütte stands. From the parking lot after the valley station of the Versettlabahn, on the bypass road from Gaschurn south to a group of houses and on through the Garneraschlucht (Fenggatobel) or the little road to the Maiensäß Ganeu ( 1400  m , 75 min.).

Now on the Alpweg into Garneratal, past the rubble of a landslide to Garneraalp, Innerer Stafel ( 1807  m ). Along the stream to the Hohlen Stein ( 1890  m ). From here either on the eastern side of the valley (summer path) steeper up to the hut or, more comfortably, in the valley floor soon over the Garnerabach on the western valley slope to the valley station of the material cable car (rucksack transport: phone behind the stone).

A steeper climb and the head of the valley in a large curve to the left on the marked path to the hut (4–5 hours from Gaschurn ).

Activities around the hut

The Tübinger hut is also an integral part of the alpine training of the DAV section Tübingen. Here, for example, there is a practice via ferrata and the opportunity to train crevasse rescue. In recent years, a climbing garden has also begun and bouldering on the boulders around the hut has started.
