The Seetalhütte is a mountain hut belonging to the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland . It is located east of Klosters at 2065  m above sea level. M. in a side valley of the Silvretta group .

history

On May 1, 2012, the SAC Prättigau section took over the hut from the St. Gallen section. Until the end of 2011 the hut was hosted by Appenzeller Max Zangerl, also known as Seetal-Max, for 50 years of service. This makes him the longest-serving hut warden of the SAC. From 2012 the hut will be operated as a self-catering hut. Projects are currently being worked out for further operations.

With its simple furnishings, the smallest manned hut of the SAC is reminiscent of the pioneering days of metallurgy. It was built as a military shelter during the Second World War in 1941 and is hidden under a ledge and built hard on the rock. The kitchen, dining room and mattress store are all in the same room. The Seetalhütte is located 2 km from the Austrian border on Swiss soil.

It can be reached from the Swiss side from Klosters -Monbiel - to Alp Sardasca on the same hut trail as the Silvrettahütte  - in 3 hours; from Austria from Vermuntsee ( Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße ) - Saarbrücker Hütte  - Seelücke - Seetalhütte (without glacier) in 5 hours.

It offers 12 beds and is open from late June to late October / early November. It is closed from the snowfall until the snowmelt, it has no winter room. The hut is suitable as a starting point for circular hikes of 2½ to 5 hours and numerous climbing tours with crossings as well as a stage location for various hikes with transitions (here called Furggen ) of 4 to 6 hours.
