The Heidelberger Hut ( 2264 m above sea level ) is a refuge of the Heidelberg section of the German Alpine Club in the rear Fimba Valley at the foot of the Fluchthorn ( 3399 m ) in the Silvretta . It is the only hut of the German Alpine Club which is located on Swiss soil (approx. 3 km south of the border with Austria) . It is also referred to as Chamanna Fenga on Swiss signposts . It stands on the territory of the political municipality of Valsot in Switzerland, but is managed from Ischgl ( Tyrol ) in Austria . It was built in 1889 and has been renewed and expanded again and again since then. Today it is a comfortably furnished shelter with beds, mattresses, cold and warm water (showers), a seminar room and even a sauna behind the house, which can be heated up if necessary. It is particularly popular as a touring base in winter and spring with ski tourers who start the Silvretta crossing from here.
Accesses
The usual accesses are from Ischgl through the Fimbatal over the Bodenalpe (4 hours) and from Galtür through the Larein valley over the Ritzenjoch (5 hours). From Switzerland, the hut can be reached from Ramosch through the Val Sinestra (6 hours), from Samnaun through the Zeblastal (4 hours) and from Scuol via the eastern ridge of Piz Tasna (ascent not recommended in one day).
It can also be reached from the Jamtal via the Kronenjoch or Zahnjoch (in summer the longer route over the Kronenjoch is recommended due to the retreat of the glacier)
In winter, a slope is rolled up through the Fimber Valley to the refuge. Furthermore, ski runs and routes are possible from various cable car stations in the huge Ischgl ski area, which shorten the approach.
