Ramosch ( German obsolete and officially Remüs until 1943 ) is a place in the Lower Engadine and was the name of a political municipality in the district of the same name , Inn district , in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland , which existed until the end of 2012 .
;On October 21, 2011, the separate community assemblies of Tschlin and Ramosch approved a merger agreement, which was approved by the cantonal parliament in April 2012. The municipality that has merged since January 1, 2013 is called Valsot .
geography
Ramosch lies at approx. 1236 m above sea level. M. on the left side of the river Inn at the exit of the Val Sinestra . Ramosch included Vnà , Seraplana and Raschvella . Ramosch also included Griosch and the upper part of the Fimba Valley (Rhaeto-Roman. Val Fenga ) in the otherwise Austrian Paznaun Valley .
Language and population
The language of the residents is Vallader , a Romansh idiom . In 1880, 86%, in 1910 95% and in 1941 92% said Romansh was their mother tongue. Despite a growing German-speaking minority, little has changed. The only official language is Romansh. The following table shows the development over the last few decades:

Almost all of Ramosch's residents use Romansh actively and passively (1990 90%, 2000 even 92%). Romansh is used consistently in school and community matters.
Of the 479 residents at the end of 2005, 443 (= 92%) were Swiss citizens.
Economy and Infrastructure
Sports
Ramosch is the starting point for many hikes in the area. There is a toboggan run from Vnà to Ramosch. The closest ski area, Motta Naluns, is on the territory of the neighboring municipality of Scuol .
A cross-country ski run is laid out in Ramosch in winter. The community is also located on the cross-country ski trail along the Inn from Scuol to Martina .

In 1880, Ramosch was largely destroyed by a fire.

Blazon : In silver (white) a black, red armored unicorn . Adoption of the traditional seal image of the community. The unicorn is the coat of arms of the Lords of Remüs, ministers of the Bishop of Chur , and also appears in a field of the coat of arms of the Planta family, who owned the rights in Ramosch.

In the tradition of nicknames for the Engadine villages , the Ramoscher ils süblats are called , in German: "the Ahlentreiber ".
