The Joe route is beside the Heckmair route one of the most important Transalp -tours that of Oberstdorf to Riva del Garda leads. The route was first driven in 1995 by Achim Zahn alias Serac Joe. The first time rider specifies a length of 432 kilometers and suggests that it be divided into seven stages. The published total travel time is 45 hours.
Characteristic
With the Schrofen Pass , the Fimber Pass , the Uina Gorge , the Montozzo Scharte and the Bocchetta di Forcola, the Joe Route offers numerous alpine highlights for mountain bikers , according to Achim Zahn "the most impressive alpine cross in the Eastern Alps".
Due to the high mountain location , the Joe Route is only accessible by mountain bike in the summer months. The best tour time for this is between the beginning of July and September. Nine passes on the route are at over 2,000 m. Three overnight stays are usually in mountain huts. The route is a mountain bike route that has not yet been specially signposted, partly in high alpine terrain with pushing and carrying passages, so that alpine experience is an advantage. Access from the north can be done on the Iller cycle path .
