history
Most of the Silvretta village was built around 1938. A relevant part of the barracks that was built at that time was demolished again after the dams were built. The former Silvretta hut was built as a wash house for the workers of the dam projects and has been preserved. Like most of the other surrounding buildings, the house belongs to illwerke vkw AG .
The previous Silvretta Hut was rented by Naturefriends from October 2, 1982 and used as mountaineering accommodation until December 31, 2018. The base in the Silvretta village will also be used with the new accommodation for alpine tours and alpine training for adults and children in summer and winter. On July 23, 1987, the later Federal Chancellor and Federal Party Chairman of the SPÖ , Franz Vranitzky , visited the former Silvretta hut (the old wash house).
