Rifa is a small town in the Montafon in Vorarlberg , and belongs to the municipality of Gaschurn in the Bludenz district .

The Rotte is in the valley floor on the right bank of the Ill , halfway between Gaschurn and Partenen .

The Tafamunt rises above the place , the steep drop of the Valschavielkamm against the Illtal, a European protected area , and above it Tavamunter Augstenberg ( 2489 m above sea level ) and Versalspitze (Versailspitze, 2462 m above sea level ).
South across from the Ill lies the Rifawerk with the large equalization basin, which belongs to the Obere Ill-Lünersee power plant group of illwerke vkw .

Rifa climbing garden

At Rifa, in front of the Tschambre tunnel on Montafoner Strasse (L 188), there is the Rifa climbing garden (bus stop Gaschurn-Klettergarten ). It is characterized by a sunny afternoon location and good gneiss ( Silvrettakristallin ), and was redesigned and expanded in 2009.
