The Tavamunter Augstenberg (also: Tafamunter Augstenberg) is a 2489 m high mountain in the Verwall in the municipality of Gaschurn ( Partenen ) in the Montafon , Vorarlberg . The Versalspitze ( 2462 m above sea level ) is adjacent to the Augstenberg in the south .
The Tavamunter Augstenberg and the Versalspitze form the western end of the Valschavielkamm and this delimits the Valschavieltal in the south.
The Tavamunter Augstenberg is listed in the Vorarlberg biotope inventory , together with the lower Valschavieltal and the Verbellatal ( No. 11018 ) with an area of 1091.7 hectares.
Below the Tavamunter Augstenberg and the Versalspitze lies at 2211 m above sea level. A. the Versailhaus (pronounced [ fer'zai: l… ], not with “w”, also Versal-Haus ), built in 1931, which is no longer in use , a former refuge in Verwall .
Name derivation
"Augsten" probably comes from the month name August ( Latin augustus ) and indicates the limited possibility of cultivating the slopes with hay or cattle , mostly only in August.
hike
The Tavamunter Augstenberg is an easy mountain to climb with a beautiful all-round view (medium level of fitness required). The Augstenberg can be reached on foot in around two to three hours from the Heilbronner Hütte via the Verbelaalpe . From the valley, Partenen, over the Alpe Tavamunt ( Tafamuntbahn ) past the Versailhaus in about four to five hours. The Versalspitze can be reached in around half an hour from Augstenberg.
