The Versailhaus (pronounced [ fer'zai: l… ], not with “w”, also Versal-Haus ) is a former shelter in Verwall , in the Gaschurn im Montafon municipality , Vorarlberg .

The house is 2211  m above sea level. A. at Tavamunter Augstenberg ( 2489  m above sea level ) and Versalspitze (Versailspitze, 2462  m above sea level ), in the high valley of the Vendula brook, via Partenen , the Kopswerk and the Tafamuntbahn .

history

The Versalhaus was built in 1931 by Hermingild Tschanun, host of the Gasthaus Edelweiß in Gaschurn . It served as a base for the Valschavielkamm touring area , especially for winter ski tours . The house had 24 beds and 26 storage spaces. All of the construction material had to be carried up to the construction site without the aid of machines. The management was given up again in 1967.

The building still stands on the shoulder of the high valley, it is secured with a new roof, but is empty.
