The Neue Reutlinger Hütte (also Walter-Schöllkopf-Hütte ) is an Alpine Club hut of the Reutlingen section of the German Alpine Club in Verwall and is located in Vorarlberg , Austria .

location

The self-contained cabin is south and above Klösterle ( Klostertal ) at the top, in the south end of the game level , in wind an exposed position on the saddle between Eastern Credits iron tip and Pflunspitzen . This saddle forms the transition between the Nenzigasttal and the Gaflunatal. There are several smaller lakes near the hut.

history

The Reutlingen section, founded in 1905, initially considered building on the Kreuzjoch above Schruns , where the Worms section was already working intensively on the construction of its Worms hut . In 1907 a member of the Reutlingen section brought up the topic of the wild plain. On August 3, 1909, she inaugurated the Reutlinger Hütte there. In 1953 it burned to the ground. As an alternative, the section now also used the Kaltenberghütte built for winter operation in summer, which was considered to be an unsatisfactory solution in the long term. So, on the initiative of the 1st chairman of the section, Walter Schöllkopf, the Neue Reutlinger Hütte was created as a self-catering hut. After 11 tons of material had been brought up by helicopter, its shell was erected in just two days using the log cabin method on the foundation of the burned down building. On 26./27. September 1970 it was inaugurated.

In the spring of 1977 an avalanche of dust pushed the hut 2 m from the foundation. However, it was so solidly built that it remained largely intact as a whole, and could be pulled to its original place with winches the following summer.

In 1987 the separate outhouse was replaced by an extension. Until 1995, the house was heated and cooked with liquid gas, and since then with a wood stove. In 2002 the section built an annex to store the firewood on the east side, and in 2018 another annex with a bio toilet was built on the north-east corner.
