The Edmund-Graf-Hütte is a shelter of the Alpine Association Tourist Club Innsbruck of the Austrian Alpine Association in the Verwall Group at 2375 m above sea level. A.
The hut belongs to the PES section Tourist Club Innsbruck and is located in the eastern part of the Verwall group on the upper Kapplerboden. Valley locations are Pettneu am Arlberg ( 1122 m above sea level ) in the Stanzer Tal and Kappl ( 1256 m above sea level ) in Paznaun . Pettneu can be reached via the Arlberg Schnellstraße , Kappl via the L 188, both by public transport and by car.
history
In 1884 the construction of the Edmund-Graf-Hütte began with the acquisition of land in the Verwall group by the Innsbruck Tourist Club. The construction project was completed a year later. 40 years later the building was extended. In 1972/1973 the hut was significantly expanded. Finally, in 1991 and 1992, the kitchen was expanded and the sanitary facilities were renovated.
The hut is named after the mountaineer Edmund Graf, who was Vice President of the Innsbruck Tourist Club and who had a fatal accident one year after the hut was opened in the Sarntal Alps .
Approaches
- From Pettneu am Arlberg in 3 hours through the Malfontal.
- From Kappl via the Kappler Joch ( 2672 m above sea level ) in 5 hours or via the Schmalzgrubenscharte ( 2697 m above sea level ) in 5½ hours. The last-mentioned ascent can be shortened by using the Dias mountain railway (mountain station at 1830 m). The Alblitt lift (mountain station at 2300 m) is in operation at times.
Tours
The Edmund-Graf-Hütte is the starting point for the ascent of the Hohen Riffler , which is 3168 m above sea level. A. Height of the highest mountain in the Verwall group. The southern summit can be reached in 2 hours via the normal route (Alpine climbing system, firn and rocky passages). From there via a connecting ridge to the northern main summit in about 15 minutes. The ascent of the connecting ridge offers climbing difficulties in the second degree .
In addition to the Hohen Riffler there are the following other summit destinations:
- Blank maple ( 3129 m above sea level ), walking time 2½ hours: On the ascent path on the Hohen Riffler to the Blankascharte and from there in the II. Degree of difficulty over the east ridge to the summit.
- Kleiner Riffler (3014 m), to be climbed from the Blankascharte in a few minutes
- Kapplerjochspitze ( 2835 m above sea level ), walking time 2½ hours
- Welskogel ( 2887 m above sea level ), walking time 2½ hours
The following transitions to other huts are possible:
- To the Niederelbehütte ( 2310 m above sea level ): Via the Rifflerweg to the Schmalzgrubenscharte and from there via the Kieler Weg in 4½ hours.
