The courthouse was built between 1530 and 1539 and significantly redesigned around 1717. Gothic and baroque elements characterize the building, which served as a district court until 2002 and is now used as a police station, land registry and other purposes.

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Alban in Matrei in East Tyrol is the largest rural church in Tyrol with its 86 meter high tower. It was consecrated to St. Alban of Mainz. Despite the overall baroque impression, the church is architecturally at the turn from late baroque to early classicism.

The Matreier Widum goes back to a previous building from 1326. Between 1735 and 1739 the rectory was rebuilt. The massive, three-storey cube has frescoes from the third quarter of the 18th century, illusionistic architectural paintings and depictions of the cardinal virtues.

The building was built as a primary school in 1866 and was rebuilt after a fire in 1897. In use as a school building until 1979, the building also served as a barracks for the local gendarmes, as well as the municipal administration, a bank and apartments for nurses. Since 2001/02, the building has served as the headquarters of the National Park Administration and exhibition space.

The Wallner Panzl memorial was erected in 1909 in memory of the freedom fighters Anton Wallner and Johann Panzl , who led the riflemen in the fight against the French occupiers in 1909. The memorial consists of a stone stele with two bronze reliefs of the two fighters by Virgil Rainer .

The age of the Matreier cemetery is not documented; it was first mentioned in a document in 1615. The cemetery has been administered by the municipality since 1975 and was expanded in 1978 and 1996/97. In addition to the old mortuary chapel, which was built in the course of the rebuilding of the church in 1785/86, the cemetery has a new cemetery chapel created in 1978.

The war memorial was erected in 1934 on the western perimeter wall for the fallen and missing of the First World War and expanded in 1950 for the dead of the Second World War. The memorial consists of four copper plaques with the names of the victims flanked by two wall lanterns. The monument is crowned by a copper eagle by Arthur Sigmund.

The Kreuzbichler Chapel (also known as Kreuzbichlstöckl ) is a combination of two wayside shrines on the former nursing fields of the Kreuzbichl. The northern part is a light column-like late Gothic tabernacle shrine and was built around 1450/1460. It has an octagonal shaft and a cube-shaped top with four picture niches with frescoes, above it a protruding, high, shingle-covered pyramid roof with a sphere and weather vane. To the south, in the middle of the 18th century, a small chapel shrine with a high, barred arched niche and a steep, clapboard-roofed gable roof was added. In the gable an inscription cartouche "SW 1745 (?)".

The Lindenkreuz is a covered wayside cross under a linden tree at the intersection of Lindenweg and Virgener Straße. It shows the crucified Corpus Christi with the Mother of Sorrows and was created in baroque form in the second half of the 18th century.

The Bach Chapel was built in 1611 to protect against the risk of storms, fire and flooding and was probably expanded at the end of the 17th century. The Bach chapel is characterized by a monumental fresco of the Madonna in the protective cloak from 1958; the interior of the chapel is dominated by a baroque altar from the end of the 17th century.

The bridge figure of St. John of Nepomuk is located on the left side of the protective dam of the Bretterwandbach stream at the bridge in Pattergasse. The baroque figure from the middle or the second half of the 18th century is housed in a showcase in a wall niche, with Johannes Nepomuk holding a crucifix.

Weißenstein Castle was founded as a castle in the middle of the 12th century. The core of the complex that is preserved today dates from the first half of the 13th century and was expanded in the Gothic or late Gothic style in the second half of the 13th century and the first half of the 16th century. The complex owes its current appearance to the redesign in the second half of the 19th century based on the Rhineland model into a "romantic castle".

The St. Sebastian Chapel was built in the 18th century and is a simple, wide-arched chapel with a shingle-roofed gable roof. The interior is well equipped and houses, among other things, an altar from around 1800 depicting St. Sebastian, New Year's Eve and a religious saint before Mary as intercessor.

The chapel was built after 1885 and has a slightly retracted round arch choir. On the portal side, a roof turret also rises above the steep clapboard-covered gable roof. The interior of the chapel is dominated by the small altar, which dates from the first half of the 19th century. The altarpiece shows a depiction of the Sacred Heart made by Johann Hinter in 1876.

The Messner farm, a farm with a free-standing grain bin , is the birthplace of the sculptor Virgil Rainer . The building was erected in 1789 and an additional storey was added in 1865 and designed as a transversely divided courtyard with a "courtyard" crossing the ridge between the living and business areas.

The chaplain church belonging to the Matreier parish church for the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located at the entrance to the Defereggental in Huben. After the construction of a church had failed several times, the Sacred Heart Church was built between 1925 and 1929 according to plans by the architect Lois Welzenbacher .

The Kienburg was built in the 12th century and expanded several times. After a fire in 1579, the castle was only poorly repaired and subsequently deteriorated more and more. Further destruction was caused by the tremors caused by bombing in 1944.

The Lagner farm is essentially a baroque farm for couples with a free-standing small animal shed. The two-story house with a central floor plan dates from the 18th century. The residential building with an extension at ground level has a clapboard-clad purlin roof, upper floor sump and baroque facade details. The farm building was probably created in the 19th century, the goat barn in the 18th century.

The Unter-Taunterer farm is a typical East Tyrolean pair farm in the shape of the first half of the 19th century. The residential building is a two-storey building with a side floor plan under a clapboard purlin roof. At the same time, the farm building was built with a shingle-covered purlin roof. With its quarry stone foundation and its combined timber construction, it probably dates from the first half of the 19th century.

The Gasthaus Brühl was built in the 19th century by a South Tyrolean wine merchant who used the cellar of the house as a wine store. With the expansion of Iseltalstrasse, the building was used as a toll and inn.

To the east of the Zeller Iselbrücke there are four covered waymarks with votive pictures. These are reminiscent of an injured woodworker, two drowned children, and an avalanche victim, the accidents occurring between 1863 and 1924. The fourth votive image contains an appeal to Mary for protection for the village.
