The Johannishütte in the Venediger Group is an alpine club hut of the Oberland section of the German Alpine Club and is located in the Hinterbichler Dorfertal at an altitude of 2121 m above sea level. A. south of the Großvenediger in East Tyrol ( Austria ).
history
The Johannishütte was built in 1858 by Bartholomä Steiner at the suggestion of the geoplastic Franz Keil from donations, in particular from Archduke Johann of Austria . The geographer Friedrich Simony from Vienna also contributed to the construction of this hut . The patron saint was the patron of the hut construction, Archduke Johann.
In 1870 the C.-A. von Steiner the hut, who built a new hut in 1871, which became the property of the Prague section in 1876 .
getting there
- From the north via the Felbertauern tunnel - Hinterbichl, Wiesenkreuz via the road (car park)
- From the south via Lienz - Hinterbichl, Wiesenkreuz via the road (parking lot)
Ascent
- From Hinterbichl 2 hours via hiking trail and Gumpachkreuz to the Johannishütte
- From Hinterbichl with a hut taxi to the Johannishütte
Tours from the Johannishütte
- Großvenediger ( 3657 m ) alpine tour (4–5 hours)
- Rainerhorn , Kleinvenediger , Schwarze Wand , Hoher Zaun (glacier tours)
- Kreuzspitze ( 3164 m ), Zopetspitze ( 3198 m ), Tulpspitze ( 3054 m ) (all free of glaciers)
- Via ferrata to the Türml ( 2845 m ) in 2½ hours
- There are good bouldering opportunities around the Johannishütte (access 10 min)
Eagle Walk
The hut is the first stage on the Eagle Walk. From the starting point Ströden it is 13 km, 1430 m ascent with a walking time of 6.5 hours via the Essen-Rostocker Hütte to the Johannishütte. The following second stage leads over a length of 11 km and 1250 m in 5 hours via the Sajathütte to the Eisseehütte .

- Stage 5: Matreier Tauernhaus 5.5 hours
- Stage 6: Sudeten German Hut 4.0 hours
- Stage 7: Kalser Tauernhaus 4.0 hours
- Stage 8: Stüdlhütte 6.5 hours
- Stage 9: Lucknerhaus 5.5 hours
Transitions to other huts
- Defreggerhaus ( 2962 m ): about 2½ hours on a rocky, but glacier-free path.
- Kürsingerhütte ( 2549 m ): approx. 5 hours over Obersulzbachtörl , glacier ascent!
- Sajathütte ( 2600 m ): 2½ hours over the rock climb through the Sajatscharte.
- Eisseehütte in Timmeltal : 3 hours over the Zopetscharte. (Johannishütte – Zopetscharte – Timmeltal as part of the Venediger Höhenweg inaugurated and opened on September 9, 1979).
- Essener-Rostocker Hütte : over the Türmljoch ( 2790 m ) in 3–4 hours.
- Bonn-Matreier Hütte ( 2750 m ): approx. 5 hours via Zopetscharte and Eisseehütte .
