The Virgental is a valley in East Tyrol , Austria . It lies within the Venediger group and is bordered in the south by the Lasörlingkamm .

The valley begins in the Matrei Basin (934 m) and ends at the Umbal Falls , where the Umbal Valley is the western continuation of the Virgen Valley . The Isel flows through the Virgental and has two tributaries on the left, the Maurerbach and the Dorferbach.

In the middle valley step, the valley narrows with the Isel Gorge , after which it rises over 1,300 meters. In the valley floor, arable farming and pastureland predominate in a traditional field, on the mountains there is alpine farming.
