The Nillbach (still Nilbach in older maps ) flows through the area of the municipality of Virgen ( East Tyrol ) in the Venediger Group on the south side of the main Alpine ridge and is a left tributary of the Isel .
course
The Nillbach arises between cowhide , High, Eichham and lower Eichham on Nillkees (a small glacial ). As a result, it plunges steeply to the south and flows past the Großer Nillalm, where it picks up another source river that rises between the column head and the Rauhkopf . As a result, it flows further south through the partially wooded Große Nilltal , where it swings to the southeast below the tree line and at around 1500 m above sea level. A. on the left side of the Kleine Nillbach - coming from the Kleiner Nilltal - takes in. It then flows through the villages of Obermauern and Niedermauern in a southerly direction and flows further south into the Isel.
history
In history, floods on the Nillbach have repeatedly led to high levels of damage in the villages of Ober- and Niedermauern. In 1945, for example, the Nillbach destroyed two houses as well as all bridges and mills. The stream was therefore gradually secured by torrent barriers in the late 1940s.
Energy use
The Nilbach power plant went into operation on October 26, 2007. Water with a net head of 103 meters is fed to the power plant by means of a 585 meter long pressure pipeline, whereby the expansion water volume is 350 liters per second and the standard energy is around 1.2 million kWh. The energy is generated by means of a four-nozzle Pelton turbine .
