Bobojach is a fraction of the community of Prägraten am Großvenediger . The village is located in the Virgen Valley and in 2001 was inhabited by 103 people.

geography

Bobojach is located around two kilometers east of the center of Prägraten (fraction Sankt Andrä) at an altitude of 1,269 meters. The fraction consists of a compact village center and several individual farms (Haufendorf), with the village center located directly on Virgentalstraße (L24) and near the Isel, which runs to the south . In addition, the scattered settlement of Stein with the Obersteiner and Untersteiner farms is part of Bobojach. The highest individual farm is the Obersteiner farm north of the village center at an altitude of 1,463 meters. The Virgentalstraße connects Bobojach with the nearby Wallhorn district and with St. Andrä.

history

Bobojach was first mentioned in 1299 as Pobeyach in the land register of the Counts of Gorizia. At that time it consisted of six goods, which comprised a total of five hubs. In 1545 there had already been a number of yard divisions in the Rotte am Pabeyach , so that now there were already several goods the size of quarter hubs.

Bobojach consisted of 17 houses in 1869, in which 102 people lived, whereby the spelling of the faction at that time was Woiwojach . The population hardly changed in the following 150 years. In 1957 113 people lived in Bobojach, in 1973 there were 128. After that, the number of inhabitants fell again to 103 in 2001.

Buildings

The Josefskapelle lies in the middle of the closely built-up town center of Bobojach and was built in 1760 instead of the "Knappenhäusl", which burned down in 1743. The consecration took place in 1762, and the tower was added in 1803. The chapel was renovated in 1969 and 1970. The Trinity Chapel, also known as the Stoana Chapel, is located at the Steinerhof and was probably built in the 17th century in place of an earlier chapel.
