Groder or Groderhof , sometimes also Grod , is the name for a single farm in the community of Prägraten am Großvenediger . Groder is part of the Hinterbichl fraction and is the highest farm in the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger after Oberbichl .

geography

The Groderhof consists of two buildings and a chapel located west of Hinterbichl. The detached farm located on a rocky hill high above the Isel is northwest of the Hinterglanz farm and northeast of the scattered settlement of Forstlehen .

history

As early as 1545, an owner of a Schwaighof was named "Nickl in Graden" in the Pustertal description. In the 16th century, the farm was owned by the Lienz rulers, and the farm was liable to the pastor in Virgen. In the 18th and 19th centuries the farm was owned by the Grader and Groder families. The Groderhof was not specifically named by Statistics Austria for a long time, but included as part of Hinterbichl. Only in the course of the 1961 census was Grod or Groder specially designated as a single farm. At that time, Groder consisted of a residential building with twelve residents. In 1971 the farm had a population of eleven residents. Subsequently, from 1991 at the latest, the population of Groder was no longer shown, but the place was named as part of Hinterbichl along with Feldner and Ströden as well as various mountain huts and alpine pastures.

Buildings

Next to the Groderhof, which today serves as a guesthouse and inn, is the listed chapel Maria vom Gute Rat , which was built in 1886 by Kassian Groder.
