location

The chapel is located east of the Groderhof, which in turn is located west of the Hinterbichl fraction . The Groderhof, which consists of two buildings and the chapel, is located on a rocky hill high above the Isel, northwest of the Hinterglanz farm and northeast of the scattered settlement of Forstlehen .

Building

The chapel was built by Kassian Groder in 1886 and consecrated three years later. In 1993 the chapel was restored.

The Eggerkapelle has a rectangular floor plan, a polygonal choir and a steep, shingle-roofed gable roof. Only after the construction of the chapel was a porch built on the west side, which has an almost square floor plan and is dominated by a saddle roof with a mighty, shingled roof turret. The roof turret has arched sound openings, a tent roof and is crowned by a ball and a cock. The outer walls and the sloping choir are each pierced by a round arched window, while in the gable wall of the vestibule there are two rectangular windows one above the other.

Inside the chapel there is a barrel vault over a profiled cornice, which was decorated with a ceiling painting by Josef Weiskopf in 1893. In the main room it shows the flight to Egypt flanked by two garlands of flowers and two oval paintings showing Saint Florian and Saint Nicholas. In the apse in the ceiling mirror there are four cartouches with the Evangelists and the Holy Trinity, on the entrance wall there are also two flame vases and an inscription cartouche with the following inscription:

“Since 1886, Kassian / Groder and his householders had / had this chapel built. / To praise and honor the most blessed = / most virgin and to give = / mean Mother of God / MARIA. "

The wooden altar with a marble setting from the beginning of the 19th century shows Mary in front of Perpetual Help ( Maria Schnee ) as an altarpiece and St. Peter in the excerpt. There are also figures of St. Lawrence and John Nepomuk from the second half of the 19th century on the altar. The Way of the Cross from the second half of the 19th century consists of colored prints.
