Ströden (also: Streden ) is the name of a single farm in the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger . Ströden is part of the Hinterbichl fraction and is the westernmost, permanently populated point of the community of Prägraten am Großvenediger.

geography

Ströden lies at the western end of the Virgental or at its intersection with the Umbaltal and the Maurertal . The place consists of a house and the associated outbuildings and a chapel. The Ströden car park, which is the end point of the publicly drivable part of the Virgental, is also in the immediate vicinity. From here, hiking trails lead north to the Essener-Rostocker-Hütte , west to the Clarahütte and south to the Neue Reichenberger Hütte .

history

The Ströden farm was not specifically named by Statistics Austria for a long time, but included in Hinterbichl. It was only in the course of the 1951 census that Ströden was given an extra residential building and six residents. From then on, Ströden always consisted of a residential building, with six residents also reported for 1961, ten residents for 1971 and nine residents in 1981.

Buildings

Sacred Heart Chapel

In terms of cultural history, the listed Herz-Jesu chapel from the end of the 19th century is of particular importance. It was built in 1893 by Lenz and Lois Raffer and consecrated in 1895.
