Bichl is located in the rear part of the Virgental between the places Hinterbichl in the west and St. Andrä in the east, whereby the village is connected to the two places by a road. The Virgentalstraße (L24) is located a little south of Bichl. Bichl also includes Frösach , Oberbichl and the Sajathütte , and the farms Schmieder, Oberfrößler, Unterfrößler, Oberpetterer, Unterpetterer, Kratzerfeldner, Oberkratzer, Innerkratzer and Oberbichl are shown.

The houses in the village are grouped 1493 meters above sea level around a hill on which the village chapel is enthroned. In 2001 the village consisted of a total of 21 buildings, with 14 of the 21 buildings having at least one main residence. At that time there were a total of 20 apartments in Bichl, and the place also had five workplaces and eight agricultural and forestry businesses.

history

Due to its small size, Bichl was not specially expelled from the Austrian authorities for a long time. Only after the Second World War is Bichl mentioned in the results of the 1951 census as a hamlet of St. Andrä. At that time, Bichl comprised eight houses with 64 residents. In 1961, Bichl consisted of 11 houses with 104 residents, including the hamlet of Bichl with nine houses and 89 residents and Frößach with two houses and 15 residents. In 1971 Bichl also consisted of a total of 13 houses, at which time 110 people lived in Bichl and Bichl was already classified as a "village". In 1991, 87 of the 91 residents of Bichl lived in the village of Bichl and 4 in Frößach.

Buildings

With the Chapel of the Holy Spirit , Bichl has a listed, baroque chapel, the origin of which goes back to the 17th century. Also worth seeing is the Oberbichler-Hof with a core from the 17th century, which is the highest courtyard in Prägarten. The Sajat Hut was rebuilt in 2001 after it was destroyed by an avalanche in April of this year.
