Allan Williams (Manager)
Allan Richard Williams (born March 17, 1930 in Bootle , † December 30, 2016 ) was a British promoter and the first manager of the Beatles .
Life
Williams was born to Richard Edward Williams and Annie Cheetham. After his mother died very soon after he was born, the father remarried and moved to Litherland, in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton . Williams had two half-siblings.
In 1958 Allan Williams founded a café-bar in Liverpool , which he named The Jacaranda after an exotic tree . John Lennon , Stuart Sutcliffe and Paul McCartney were regular guests at the time and also made occasional appearances. Williams later began to organize performances for them in other locations.
In 1960 he drove with the band in his minibus to Hamburg for their first performance there on August 17th at the “Indra”, a strip club on the notorious Große Freiheit . In 1961 the band separated from Williams, who in 1975 published his memoir under the title "The Man Who Gave The Beatles Away", which also resulted in a play.
