Allen Alexis is an Austrian band from Vienna and Salzburg . In 2013 the band was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the category Best Engineered Album with the album Different Believers .

history

Allen Alexis was founded in 2009 by DJ and producer Philip Preuss and musician Günther Bernhart. Their first single Here Tonight entered the FM4 radio charts straight away and secured the band a place on the FM4 Soundselection 21 . In 2010, the duo brought musician and techno producer Gerald Peklar to the band as reinforcement for the production of the debut album. Between 2010 and 2013, the band embarked on a variety of appearances in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, to apply for their singles and the subsequent debut album, and others in the Waves Festival Vienna, the Dockville Festival Hamburg, as well as the Ahoy Pop Festival Linz! .

From 2011 to the end of 2012 the band was supported by drummer Josef Schmiderer during their live performances.

style

The musical style of the band is very diverse and ranges from electropop to punk and techno to indie ballads. In addition, the music of Allen Alexis has already been compared to that of Lily Allen , Prince , the Pet Shop Boys and Eurythmics . The daily Kurier described the debut album as "a relaxed overall pop show of the last quarter of a century: disco and club, pop and electro, 1980s and 2010s. Unexcited timeless." In addition to the musical versatility, the band is also known for the eccentric stage shows by the singer Günther Bernhart.

"The equally extravagant and escalating show by singer Günther Bernhart supports the songs to the fullest" - KEVIN REITERER FOR THEGAP.AT
