Allen Whitty (born May 5, 1867 in Martley , † July 22, 1949 in Aldermaston ) was a British marksman and officer .
successes
Allen Whitty took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris in two disciplines on the running stag in double shot. In the individual competition he did not get past 18th place with 56 points, while he was Olympic champion with the team . Whitty managed with the team a narrow victory over Norway, whose team had scored 262 points, one point less than the British team. In addition to Whitty, who achieved the British second-best result with 68 points, the team also included Cyril Mackworth-Praed , Philip Neame and Herbert Perry .
Whitty joined the Worcestershire Regiment at the age of 13 while hiding his age and initially served in British India . In 1897 he returned to Great Britain with the rank of regimental sergeant major . His awards include the Distinguished Service Order , which he received in 1916. That same year he was appointed quartermaster of his regiment. Until his retirement from active service, he rose to lieutenant colonel .
