The Allianz Global Investors GmbH (short: Allianz Global or AGI ) is a German company in the asset management based in Frankfurt am Main . The capital management company belongs to the insurance group Allianz and manages assets for private and institutional investors as well as Allianz itself.
history
Allianz founded Allianz Asset Management (AAM) in 1998, which at the end of 1998 was already managing assets of 23 billion euros.
In 2000, AAM took over the American asset managers Pimco , Cadence Capital Management, Oppenheimer Capital and NFJ Investment Group. At the end of 2000, the company was already managing assets of 336 billion euros. At the end of January 2001, the American asset management company Nicholas-Applegate was taken over. In the same year, AAM took over the American asset manager RCM. With the takeover of Dresdner Bank in July 2001, their investment company Deutscher Investmenttrust (dit) and dbi were added. At the end of 2001, Allianz Dresdner Asset Management was founded to manage assets of 620 billion euros.
Allianz, together with Guotai Junan Securities, set up the largest mutual fund in China, Guotai Junan Allianz Fund Management, with a financial volume of 3.7 billion RMB .
Allianz Dresdner Asset Management was renamed Allianz Global Investors in 2004 .
The asset management of the Italian insurance group Riunione Adriatica di Sicurtà , which was majority-owned in 1984 , was renamed Allianz Global Investors SGR S.pA on October 1, 2007 .
As part of the takeover of Dresdner Bank by Commerzbank , part of the purchase price was paid by Commerzbank through its investment fund company Cominvest , which became part of Allianz Global Investors on January 12, 2009.
Since 2012, Pimco and Allianz Global Investors have been two independent investment managers for Allianz.

Allianz Global Investors' investment decisions are based on the global expertise of a global network of investment experts. The focus is on the Global Policy Council, headed by Global Chief Investment Officer Andreas Utermann. RCM Capital Management LLC is responsible for equity research at Allianz Global Investors.
AllianzGI Investments Europe
Allianz Global Investors Investments Europe is the Europe platform of Allianz Global Investors. In May 2010 Allianz Global Investors announced the founding of this European platform. It is a European consultancy for retail and institutional customers. This bundles the expertise of Allianz Global Investors France, Allianz Global Investors Italia, Allianz Global Investors Zurich and Aequitas, so that the needs of European investors are covered by knowledge of the European market. AllianzGI Investments Europe manages more than 232 billion euros in assets. With assets and advisory volumes of more than 10 billion euros, AllianzGI Investments Europe is one of the leading providers in the capital investments (SRI) market.
