Allison Danzig
Allison Danzig (born February 27, 1898 in Waco , Texas , † January 27, 1987 in New Jersey ) was an American sports journalist for the New York Times .
biography
Danzig was born in Waco (Texas), but grew up in Albany ( New York on). After graduating from Cornell University in 1921, he was co-editor alongside EB White at The Cornell Daily Sun newspaper . In 1923 he joined the New York Times , where he stayed until he retired in 1967. Before he became a sports journalist, he wrote obituaries and was supposed to be a foreign correspondent.
Allison Danzig became known for the many years of coverage of tennis (1927-1967). For this achievement he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame as the first journalist in 1968 .
