Androcymbium rechingeri is a species of plant from the genus Androcymbium inthe timeless family (Colchicaceae).

features

Androcymbium rechingeri is a persistent geophyte that reaches heights of 2 to 7 centimeters. The leaves are 20 to 150 millimeters in size and linear to lanceolate in shape. The 1 to 6 flowers are 20 to 25 millimeters in size, white in color and sometimes have purple stripes. The petals are free and pointed, often the nail is hardly longer than the plate. The fruit is inverted pear-shaped, 6 to 8 millimeters in size and only dotted with glands at the tip.

The flowering period extends from December to January.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.

Occurrence

Androcymbium rechingeri is endemic to Crete in the Chania regional unit . The species grows on sandy coasts on the west coast at altitudes of 0 to 25 meters.

Name declaration

The species was named by Werner Rodolfo Greuter in 1967 in honor of the Austrian botanist Karl Heinz Rechinger , the editor of Flora Iranica.
