Matthäus Heinrich Allius
Matthäus Heinrich Allius , latinized Matthaeus Henricus Allius , (born January 6, 1662 in Johanngeorgenstadt ; † February 11, 1734 in Dresden ) was a German lawyer as well as royal Polish and electoral Saxon court counselor at the Dresden court.
Life
He was the son of the notary and city judge Matthäus Allius (1632–1701) from Grimma in Johanngeorgenstadt in the Saxon Ore Mountains , who received an electoral privilege for his town house on the market square in 1680 because of services to the exile and mountain town. In 1691 he lost one of his brothers in an accident. He was struck by lightning out of the blue while making hay in the field.
After attending the Latin School in Johanngeorgenstadt, Matthäus Heinrich Allius went to the Pforta State School from 1675 to 1681 , where he was given a free position. He then attended the University of Wittenberg to study law and received his doctorate in both rights. The subject of his dissertation, defended by Wilhelm Leyser in 1687 , was Disputatio inauguralis iuridica de prorogatione iurisdictionis .
He entered the Saxon civil service and worked, among other things, at the Upper Court in Dresden, where he had a permanent place on the scholar's bench until his death.
In 1715 he married Gertraude Henriette nee Albhard.
Shortly before his death, he set up the Allius Foundation in his will in 1731 to support his relatives.
