All Union Film Festival

The All- Union Film Festival (also short All- Union Festival ; Russian Всесоюзный кинофестиваль ) was one of the most important national film festivals in the Soviet Union , which was held between 1958 and 1988 at different locations, mostly in the capitals of the Soviet republics. The time and place of the festival were determined by Goskino and the Union of Filmmakers of the USSR. After festivals in 1958, 1959 and 1960, the film festival was only held every two years from 1964 and annually from 1972.

Awards were given to directors, screenwriters, actors, cameramen and sound engineers in the following categories:

  • Motion pictures,
  • Documentaries, scientific and popular science films, newsreels
  • Children's and youth films (since 1977)
  • Animation film (since 1977)
