S'Almudaina d'Artà was a fortification during the Islamic-Arab or Moorish era on the Balearic island of Mallorca . It was located in the northeast of the island, in the geographical center of the Artà peninsula, on the hill Puig de Sant Salvador de s'Almudaina d'Artà .
The name Almudaina comes from the Arabic "al-mudayna" , which means something like " fortress " or " citadel " ( Catalan "la ciutadella" ). The area of Artà was called Yartan (Arabic for "garden") at the time of Islamic rule . Today only the surrounding walls of the fortification are preserved, inside the complex is the pilgrimage church of Sant Salvador d'Artà . It forms the center of the city of Artà .

It is believed that the ancient fortress on the hill of Artà has its origins before the Arab occupation of the island.
