Alois Gerig (born January 30, 1956 in Höpfingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and managing director. He has been a member of the German Bundestag since October 2009 and was elected chairman of the Committee on Food and Agriculture in January 2015.

Life

Gerig is married, has three children and is a Roman Catholic.

He completed his agricultural training in 1977 with the master's examination. 1985–2009 he was the managing director of Maschinenring Odenwald-Bauland with three commercial subsidiaries. In 1988 he took over the family business and expanded it into a holiday farm. Since 1999 he has been a member of the district council of the Neckar-Odenwald district .

Alois Gerig is deputy chairman of the district farmers' association and until his election to the German Bundestag in 2009 was a member of the board of the Baden-Württemberg state association of machine rings. Since April 2011 he has been chairman of the Federal Association of Fruit and Small-Scale Distillers.

MP

In 2009 Gerig won the direct mandate in the constituency of Odenwald - Tauber in the Bundestag election and became a member of the German Bundestag . He achieved the best election result in Baden-Württemberg.

He is a full member of the Bundestag Committee on Food and Agriculture and its chairman. Gerig is also a deputy member of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy.

In the 17th electoral term he was forest and viticulture policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. On March 15, 2011 Gerig was elected with 98 percent of the votes as deputy chairman ( chairman ) of the working group on nutrition, agriculture and consumer protection of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group. Since 2011 Gerig has also been chairman of the state committee for rural areas, agriculture and consumer protection of the CDU Baden-Württemberg.

On September 22, 2013, Gerig was directly re-elected with 59.12 percent, confirmed as chairman of the committee for food and agriculture and rapporteur for forestry and renewable energies. In January 2015, the CDU / CSU parliamentary group elected Gerig with 98.3 percent of the votes cast as the new chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Food and Agriculture. At the federal level, he has been a member of the Federal Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the CDU in Germany since 2015.
