Soon after moving to Prague, Klar came into contact with the blind . At the side of Freiherr von Platzer he was active in the establishment of the Prague Educational Institution for the Blind, was on the board of directors and for a short time led the directorate. In 1832 he founded an association and an institution for the care and employment of adult blind people in Bohemia, based on the model of the Viennese institution. He obtained the information necessary for this through a lively correspondence from Johann Wilhelm Klein . Alois Klar also managed to secure the project financially. He died on March 25, 1833 at the age of 69.

Klar's wife Rosina helped her husband and first looked after blind children in the private educational institution for the blind on the Hradschin and later the residents of the institution for the blind, long after her husband's death.
