Alois Leitner (politician)

Alois Leitner (born June 12, 1924 in Jenbach ; † April 29, 2018 in Schwaz ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and director of schools and farmers. From 1962 to 1986 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

After elementary school in Jenbach, Leitner attended a class at the local secondary school and then moved to the grammar school in Mehrerau for three years . After graduating from the agricultural high school in Schwaz , he passed the Matura in 1943, and between 1946 and 1950 he studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna . During his studies he joined the Catholic Association K.Ö.HV Amelungia Vienna . Leitner completed his studies with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. from. He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences from 1950 to 1952 and was then a teacher at the Rotholz Agricultural College . In 1956 he was promoted to director of the school, and from 1976 he was also director of the Tyrolean farmers' union .

In the political field, Leitner was involved as a councilor in Strass in the Zillertal between 1962 and 1974 . He represented the ÖVP in the National Council from December 14, 1962 to December 16, 1986 and was also a member of the Austrian delegation to the Advisory Assembly of the Council of Europe from 1962 to 1972 . In addition, Leitner acted as deputy chairman of the Tyrolean Raiffeisen Association, chairman of the Tyrolean youth organization and chairman of the Catholic Family Association .
