Alois Zingg
Alois Zingg (born May 27, 1829 in Meggen LU ; † September 27, 1921 there ; entitled to live there ) was a Swiss politician (LPS) .
biography
Family and work
Alois Zingg, scion of a respected family from Meggen near Lucerne , son of the farmer and Lucerne Councilor Josef Zingg and his wife Maria Anna née Scherer, ran an agricultural business on the Schönheim farm in his home community after completing school.
Alois Zingg, who was married to Elisabeth, born Peter, died in Meggen in 1921 at the old age of 92.
Political career
Alois Zingg, who joined the Liberal Party of Switzerland, held office at the municipal level as a corporation administrator and mayor . At cantonal level, he was elected to the government council of the canton of Lucerne in 1872 to succeed his older brother Joseph Zingg, who had moved to the management of the Gotthard Railway Company . Alois Zingg, who took over the management of the State Economic Department there and held the office of District President ( Schultheiss ) in 1885 , resigned in 1891. In the same year he was elected to the Lucerne Grand Council, of which he was a member until he left politics in 1907.
Alois Zingg's political commitment, who founded the Agricultural School in Sursee in 1885 and was a member of the board of directors of the Vierwaldstättersee steam ship company, was focused on agriculture and, in particular, on the training of farmers.
