The Alstom Prima EL2P / 4 is an electric locomotive for passenger transport, from the French Alstom Prima family of multi-system vehicles . The locomotive was designed in such a way that it causes the lowest possible acquisition and maintenance costs for the railway company . It can be used under two different power systems. At the SNCF it is classified as type BB 27300 . It is very similar to the locomotives of the BB 27000 series

The external appearance is the same as the BB 27000 , the only difference is the Transilien paintwork of the BB 27300.

The technical differences are related to its use as a local passenger locomotive, including a 1500 V heating cable, the KVB-P and a traveler information system.

A total of 67 locomotives were delivered as follows: 12 in 2006, 25 in 2007, 23 in 2008, 5 in 2009 and 2 in 2010.

The BB 27300 have been on the Transilien lines from Paris Montparnasse with renovated VB 2N coaches since 2006 .

24 locomotives are responsible for the traffic from Montparnasse , 43 locomotives are responsible for the traffic from Saint-Lazare . Since the BB 27300 are five meters longer than their predecessor locomotives , the VB 2N trains were shortened from seven to six cars, as some platforms would be too short for seven cars.

In Paris-Montparnasse they replaced the BB 8500 and BB 25500 , in Paris-Saint-Lazare the BB 17000 , these were unsuitable for suburban traffic because the starting and braking force was low compared to the BB 27300. The original contract for 60 locomotives was extended to 67.

future

The BB 27300 are only temporarily on the Transilien lines. It is planned to replace the VB 2N with double-decker multiple units between 2020 and 2025. As a result, the BB 27300 will be used again with the BB 27000 in freight traffic.
