Alt-Praunheim is the name of a street in the Praunheim district of Frankfurt . The official street name from Praunheim Brücke to Heerstraße is K814, then L3440.
course
The Alt-Praunheim road begins on the Nidda River at the Praunheimer Brücke as an extension of the Praunheimer Landstrasse . It leads through the center of Praunheim. The road ends with the transition to Praunheimer Weg. It is one of the two main thoroughfares in Praunheim. Another junction she gets with the Heerstrasse .
History of the road
Connecting roads were laid through the later municipality of Praunheim as early as Roman times. Such a path led roughly from house number 49 to the junction “In der Römerstadt” (see Roman roads in Nida ). In 1609 the streets were paved with stone paving from Oberrad and Sprendlingen as well as parts of the ruins of the Roman city. When the paths were paved, a fee was levied for their use. This had to be submitted by the year of incorporation in 1910.
There were also three gates, one towards the Nidda, one at today's entrance to Heerstraße, and at the end of Alt-Praunheim street. The street name was Frankfurter Straße (up to Heerstraße) until about 1910 , then Obere Gasse . There were delays in the construction of the sewer system, as stones had to be cleared from the trenches again and again. The stones were also found when the gas pipeline was laid in 1980.
Until 1979 the road was passable in both directions. This changed with the routing of Haingrabenstrasse and Ohlengraben. Since that date it has been a one-way street from house number 49 to the junction “In der Römerstadt”. Almost at the same time, the police officer who was regulating the traffic was withdrawn from the Alt-Praunheim and Heerstraße danger point. The road received a new pavement in 2009.
Speed and crossings
From the beginning of the street to the junction “In der Römerstadt” the rate is 30 km / h, then 50 km / h. There are crossings only at the beginning ( zebra crossing ) and two traffic lights at house number 49 and at the junction “In der Römerstadt”.
Local public transport
There are two stops on Alt-Praunheim street. On the one hand at the Praunheimer Brücke, which is also called that. The bus lines 72 and 73 stop here in both directions, as well as the night bus N2 in the direction of Konstabler Wache on the street side with odd house numbers. On the other hand, there is the Graebestrasse bus stop at the small shopping center. Here you can only get on to the east. Lines 60, 72, 73 and N2 stop there .
House numbers and side streets
The house numbers start from the Nidda on the left with the odd house numbers. Before house number 1, the street “An der Bitz” meets the main street. In the further course at number 39 opposite the dead end " Kolbenbergstrasse " comes from the right. As the most frequented street in this area, Heerstraße comes from the west at number 49 . Another street, the “Graebestraße” (named after Carl Graebe ), opens from the right at house number 46. The only intersection on the street Alt-Praunheim is at house number 75. Here comes the street “In der Römerstadt” from the right and on the left Side the street “Ohlengarten”.
Associations and companies
The local fire brigade is not directly on Alt-Praunheim street, but on the corner of "Alt Praunheim / An der Bitz". A bowling club has its home track at number 44. A Vespa club is located at the same address . Right at the beginning of the street at number 2 was the Praunheimer Werkstätten production workshop , today the refugee accommodation "AP 2".
