Ancient journeys and adventures

Old travel and adventure is one of the German ethnologist Hans Plischke founded and in 1922 published the book series , in Leipzig at FA Brockhaus published. It contains travel reports by Fernao de Magalhaes , Vasco da Gama , Christopher Columbus , Carl Friedrich Behrens and many others. The monographic series appeared again from 1926, when all volumes published up to then were reprinted, until 1930. All volumes were also illustrated, if possible with representations from the respective epoch. It comprises a total of 24 volumes. The series contains excerpts from important travel reports that are critically explained. Plischke himself published a few volumes in it. In 1951 he published his monograph From Cooper to Karl May : A story of the ethnographic travel and adventure novel (Düsseldorf: Droste). Another series of the Brockhaus-Verlag appeared under the title Reisen und Abenteuer .
