The old school is a listed former school building in Bennungen in the southern Harz municipality in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the southern part of the village, southwest of the Sankt-Johannes-Kirche at the address Mühlgasse 126 .

Architecture and history

The core of the one and a half storey building was built in the Baroque era . The building made of rubble stones is covered by a hipped roof. A renovation took place in the early 19th century. The building used today (as of 2017) as a residential building was originally used as a school. Together with the church, the rectory and the manor, the house forms the actual center of the village.

In local monument list the school since August 24, 1995 under the registration number 094 83 393 as a monument listed. The building is considered to be of cultural, artistic and urban development significance.
