Bremthal old school
The old school Bremthal in Bremthal was used as a school and town hall from 1903 to 1973 and is now a listed building .
The first teacher in Bremthal is documented in 1765. However, the village did not have its own school building. It was not until the Duchy of Nassau that the first school building was built as a simultaneous school in 1816 . The building in simple classicist forms at Schäfergasse 2 had a single class that was attended by 84 children in 1824. In 1881 a second teaching position was created, which means that the old building was definitely too small.
In 1903 the new school and town hall was therefore built at Borngasse 2. The brick building by the architect Carl Belz from Langenschwalbach with two to eight window axes has ornamental variations in the brickwork and ornate window frames. The house, the gable side of which is emphasized by a stepped closure and the highlighting of the entrance with a gabled risalit, was used as a town hall and a school. The old town hall at the church was demolished in 1837, hence the double use. The previous schoolhouse was sold to the parish.
In 1973 the district between Bremthal and Niederjosbach opened a new primary school and the building was no longer used. With the merger of Bremthal with Niederjosbach in 1971 and the merger with Eppstein in 1977, the town hall became a branch of the city administration.
