architecture

The residential and farm building is an eaves half-timbered building under a half- hip roof . The transverse board was built through at a later time. The walled gate entrance is rich, for example with tulip tendrils, carved and marked with 1829/30. The following text is written on the beam above the archway: This construction began in 1829. Friedrich August Helpup and Anne Althof from Kachtenhausen continued by both of them in 1830 until July 3, when they were separated by death. Finished on August 3rd by the retarded widower. The Lord's ways are wonderful, I hope He works out for the best.

history

For a long time, the Möllers zum Vogelsang pitcher near Wellentrup (today Lage ) was depicted as today's old pitcher. The Möllers zum Vogelsang jug was, like the Möllers zum Vogelsang customs office, right next to the mill in Vogelsang, i.e. in Wellentrup and not in Währentrup . At that time there were two jugs in Währentrup, the jug in the Westerheide, today's "Alte Krug" and the jug in the Osterheide, the jug of the Junghans family at that time. The place name "Westerheide" can no longer be determined locally today. In some records of the family history of the Helpup family, there is a record of a border change in 1610, after which the Möller's jug came to Vogelsang in Währentrup. According to the historian Roland Linde, this did not happen. There is no change of border between Wellentrup and Währentrup. In 1619 we find in the cattle register of the Währentrup farmers: "Junckhans in a jug, 1 pig, his mother 2 cows, 1 piglet." “ Junck Hanses widow Anneke IG own refuses the Kottstede. Vehr children, one of whom is married as Johan (one of whom, male Johann, is married). Has the krog in the Osterheyde . ”According to the historian Roland Linde, it is not about the Krug Helpup, as the later list from 1645 shows, where both mugs appear next to each other. In the soldier's treasure register of the year 1623 we find no jug designation in Währentrup. Only the " Junckhans " is reported. Most likely the above pitcher. We can already see here that the Möllers zum Vogelsang jug in Wellentrup has nothing to do with a jug in Währentrup. In 1637 it is mentioned that the "Krögersche uff der Osterheyde" died and an old list of inheritance distribution states "has not waned." So we have two jugs in Währentrup. The jug in the Westerheide, the later Alte Krug and then the jug in the Osterheide, the then Krüger Junghans or Junge Krug. Thus the meaning of the name “Alter Krug” would also be made clear. The restaurant was founded during the Thirty Years 'War or shortly after the Thirty Years' War as a pub with licensing rights. Today it is run as a family business in the 14th generation. The Kruger was called Helpup all his life . Since his restaurant was at the beginning of the long ascent to the Teutoburg Forest , he offered his services to the carts that passed by. The call help up signaled to him that an additional team was needed to cope with the steep ascent to Oerlinghausen. The host family gave the place Helpup its name.
